Datacenter

A Datacenter is a data centralisation space, intended for the storage, management, processing and distribution of data. A datacenter can be hosted directly on site by the owner company, or shared by a public cloud provider (e.g. Google Cloud, AWS, OVH Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.). The size of a datacenter varies greatly.

In the collective imagination, a datacenter often refers to a large space where a large number of servers are lined up in a highly organised manner. Although this is possible and common for most public cloud providers, a datacenter can also be a small server room or a single computer acting as a server.
